Life is busy. You might feel a little overwhelmed by all of the daily tasks. Perhaps you feel lost in yourself. It can be easy to get caught up in the mayhem of life. And maybe you want to just feel happier amongst the chaos. We all want to be happy, and that is why it is so important to check in with yourself to make sure you are doing the things to make yourself feel happy every day.
Happiness is generally the ultimate goal for everyone. Whether you are changing eating habits, finding motivation to exercise, or want to feel more confident in your body, most of these goals lead to the big goal of feeling happy. So as a woman in this modern day world, what can you do to be a happier person?
Feeling happy can be different from one person to the next, and that’s why it is important to give a mix of things a go to see what works best for you to feel good. To help you get started on finding what works for you to be happier, here are 7 tips for women to be a happier person.
- Gratitude journal
Invest in a gratitude journal. Use this journal solely for your daily gratitude. It may not seem like there is much to be grateful for when life feels exhausting and overwhelming, however there is always something to be thankful for in your life, no matter how big or small. Every day commit to writing in your gratitude journal. This task can take as little as 2 minutes. Make a list or write a paragraph. Write one thing or ten things. Start to appreciate what is in your life right now, even if it starts with being thankful for your hands writing in the journal.
- Socialise
Surround yourself with positive people who uplift you. There is a lot to be said for being in the company of people who make you laugh and have amazing conversations together. Go to the gym, fitness classes, hobby clubs, join a new activity, go to mummy and baby groups, go on a date with your partner, catch up with friends and family, go for a walk in park, go to a coffee shop, just be around people.
- Nourish
Feed your body food that makes you feel good. This means eating food that digests well so that your gut functions properly, food that gives you energy, and food that supports the body you desire. The better you feel from food, the happier your mind will be.
- Exercise with love
Do exercise you enjoy! This is a really simple way to boost your happy endorphins, which will ultimately lead to you feeling happier. Choose to do movement that uplifts your soul and you want to do regularly each week. Exercising should be a form of pleasure, and not punishment for the food you ate.
- Listen to your heart
Pay attention to what your body wants. Start to prioritise your needs. Make “you” a huge priority in your life. It can feel uncomfortable to do this at first if you are used to putting others needs at the top of the list, but you are important, too. You deserve to feel good and be happy, and the best way to do that is to listen to your gut feeling and do what you want. Start saying YES to the exercise you want to do, the food you want to eat that makes you feel healthy, the activities and hobbies that light you up, the business you want to build, and the life you want to live.
- Don’t think, just DO
It can be all too easy to let worries, doubts and fear take over your life. But is this procrastination getting you to the life you want? Are you feeling happy wondering about the what-if? Get out of your own way, and realise you CAN do anything you want and have anything you want when you allow yourself to just go with the flow and enjoy the process.
- Daily affirmations
Pick a personal positive mantra that resonates with you and repeat this throughout the day. You can think it, say it out loud, write it down or post it on social media. Having a few words or sentence that you focus on throughout the day is an incredibly powerful tool to change your mindset to feel more positive and happier. It may feel weird at first, but the consistent effort will pay off in the long term.
Example affirmations:
- I am doing enough. I have enough. I am enough.
- My life is filled with blessings and I am grateful.
- I expect to have the life I deserve.
A bonus point: smile. Even when life feels tough, always remember to smile. Whether the smile comes naturally or not, it has the instant result of uplifting the heart and soul and can do wonders for your day.
You deserve to be happy.
