So you’re working on losing extra fat, but are still dealing with one super-annoying problem: the dreaded chub rub. A common problem for women, chub rub occurs when the inner thighs rub together while walking, working out or doing pretty much anything other than sitting. The rubbing causes friction, which results in irritation and redness. It can also be quite painful. Rather than allowing chub rub to dictate your workout schedule and otherwise cause problems in your life, check out seven ways to stop inner thigh chafing!
1) The Right Fabric: Let Those Pups Breathe
If you’re prone to inner thigh chafing, it’s time to say buh-bye to bicycle shorts and anything else in the spandex family. Instead, opt for breathable fabrics, such as 100% cotton sweats, shorts and lounge pants. Tight-fitting fabric that doesn’t allow skin to breathe is only going to compound the problem, so always go for loose-fitting fabric that doesn’t block the flow of air.
2) Stay Hydrated: Water Helps Prevents Chafing Among Its 500 Other Benefits
Dehydration is usually the cause of most health problems and conditions, and inner thigh chafing is no exception. Hydrated skin is plumper (in the good way) and won’t rub like super-parched skin will. Drink water at least half an hour before you start your workout to give yourself bathroom time. Your urine should be very light yellow if not almost clear, which indicates hydration. Dark yellow or amber-colored urine? Drink more water pronto.

Another great way to get off the chaf train while working out is to slather a moisturizer on your inner thighs. Stick to all-natural versions for best results, as commercial lotions and moisturizers often contain ingredients such as mineral oil, which coat skin as a sealant rather than letting it breathe. One of the absolute best moisturizers on our blue and green planet is coconut oil, so try that next time you go to exercise. Yes, it’s super-greasy, but you can’t argue with the results! Its healing properties will also soothe and clear up existing irritation and bumps.
4) Pour on the Baby Powder
If you don’t want to get your brand-new workout clothes all greasy, try powdering those thighs. Baby powder dries up sweat and creates a nice barrier, though as with moisturizers look for natural versions if possible. Talc is a chemical, after all!
5) Keep It Clean, People
Occasionally the friction is so severe it causes bleeding. In addition to using natural moisturizers with healing properties, the American Academy of Dermatology recommends cleaning the area with soap and water and gently patting it dry. In other words, don’t sit around in sweaty/dirty clothing or go hang out in a festival mud pits if dealing with this issue!
6) Soothe Skin With Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is a well-known moisturizing agent celebrated for its abilities to soothe ragingly-irritated skin. Apply pure aloe vera gel to your inner thighs for instant cooling relief. As with coconut oil, the gel heals in addition to making you go “Ahhh.” Drink the juice daily for additional hydration.

7) Break Open the Vitamin E
A final way to soothe severely-irritated thighs and protect them while working out is with vitamin E oil. Like coconut oil, the liquid is greasy, but well-known as a fantastic moisturizer. It will also help heal existing irritation. Take the gel caps internally as well for better skin.
Try a combination of these methods and get rid of chub rub for good!

FYI…talc is not a chemical. It is a clay-like mineral and is NATURAL.

Everything you eat, see, and breath are chemicals. H2O dihydrogenmonoxide (aka water) is a chemical. Plenty of natural things are bad for you (snake venom) and plenty of synthetic things are good for you (snake anti-venom). #MarchForScience
